'S' Class - Question for the Brits
OK, so you can book web specials on AA.com booked in S class if you have a U.K. mailing address.
Now, these tickets are not mileage upgradeable, presumeably because they are so cheap.
However, they seem to be eligable for the FLY04 bonus and EUR04 bonus (if you live in the U.K.).
My question is why does S class earn the bonus, while the more expensive L and N classes do not. Or have I gone horribly wrong somewhere?

I do not beleive that S class tickets are eligible for FLY04 & EUR04 since they are "unbublished" fares. The rules for both clearly state thate they must be published tickets, excluding L or N.

Do note that the S fares aren't upgradeable at least with very recent VIP03s.

As a UK-based AAdvantage member I have earned the EUR04 bonus on S fares.

And I've specifically confirmed with AAdvantage that S class fares WILL earn the bonuses as well asregular miles
If you're not based in the UK, however, I don't think S class fares will even earn miles

Great, that is what I thought.
Just find it strange that the cheapest fare code earns bonuses, while more expensive ones don't!

FYI: AA have published some very, very cheap N fares to the US (SFO, LAX for £131 + Tax); AFAIK last day to purchase is today.
Of course no EUR04 or FLY04 bonuses on those.

Alex

Out of interest, did AA advertise this fare anywhere (web site, email, etc.)?

... and many of the N fares work out cheaper than the S web specials once a discount coupon is applied. Probably is that AA.com always shows the lowest fare, so getting the discount applied is a pain.

I just flew LHR-JFK-LHR on AA thanks to a cheap ticket on a "S" fare I bought in August 2003. I paid $285 USD including taxes and I registered for the EUR04. On my january AA statement I have the following:
Date Transaction Description Mileage Bonus Total
01/10/04 ECONOMY CLASS - 1ST R/T BONUS 0 5,000 5,000
