Excellent idea! Four segments is doable on a single baggage label, the OP must recover baggage for USCBP inspection at DFW. If necessary, the bag can be checked to LAX and then re-checked for the remaining flights.
I'm a firm believer in printing out an itinerary, placing one in the bag, and the other in one of Magellan's Retriever tags.

For less hassle, try the following: MEX-DFW, then when you manually drop them off post customs at DFW, try having them checked DWF-LAX-JFK-LHR-TXL. This means you can avoid dealing w/them at LAX.
Since its w/in 12 hrs between arrrival/departure at LAX, you *should* be able to do it there as well.
