I'm thinking of taking the Platinum Challenge - unfortunately the flights are 9940 miles (Economy full price).

As I understand it that means I have another 60 miles to find to complete the Platinum challenge - unless they've changed the 10,000 miles test
- ideas?

You could try to connect to Provo via Miami. The extra connection, plus the 500 mile minimum should get you there. Good Luck,

MiaFlyer has it exactly right.

Flying BRU-JFK-MIA-PLS would do the trick. It will get you an extra 350 or so flown miles.

See if you can go via Miami on just the southbound leg. Coming back through Miami is a real pain in the Axx.

Thank to everyone for ideas .........

unfortunately (don't you just know it) AA are telling me that to change the flight sequence means that I can't get the current price (price if I change the leg to add Miami goes up by $400!)
:-(

I was wondering if there is another way to get miles within the Challenge other than a flight???
Alternatively I'm wondering about a hop over from Provideciales to Miami and back (Can't check price as aa.com is down for maintenance)

Welcome to FlyerTalk, netlaw!

Whether we like it or not, the only way one can earn status-qualifying miles/points is by actual flight activity. Sorry.

OK, I am really reaching here, but depending on the length of your connection in New York, you could book a separate ticket from New York on American Eagle to somewhere close to get the status miles. I am not sure I could find the flight you are on at AA.com (big surprise...) but if you have an overnight in New York, you could try JFK to BOSton, ALBany, BDL (Hartford), ProViDence, or ROChester. Of course, if you had the 9900 miles, you could always beg....

Good luck,

Presumably a British Airways flight would count wouldn't it?
