Fees and taxes when you book using AA Miles

What kind of fees apply when you book using AA Miles?

Like when you use BA Miles within the Continent, it is a good deal, but when you use it for long distance, it costs an arm and a leg.

Just was wondering how would AA stack up?

It depends on the destination.

DFW-Continental US = $5.00
DFW-Anywhere in Europe = $5.00

Coming back is a crapshoot. It will cost $40.00+ to come back from FCO but $170.00+ to come back from LHR. It all depends on the international taxes.

I probably should have mentioned the destination. I am looking for IAD to anywhere in Australia (specifically MEL)

How do you determine it. United has a nice web site that gives you everything. I do not have a AA Account yet, but have MR points that I want to move to AA only if I get good deals on AA.

Don't believe you can move MR points to AAdvantage.

How about Alaska? They're Qantas partners.

I think you're right about Air Canada; I think there's a tool for checking out how to transfer between programs (in regards to MR to AA); what's the link?

AA Fees for Award Travel

I was try to see how many miles will it cost me and the fees to book a ticket

1) IAD -- YYC (Calgary)

2) IAD -- FCO (Rome) via LHR. (Not sure why AA does not have a direct flight to Rome by itself)

IAD to YYC is coming out to 12.5 K Miles (via DFW) one way and but it does not show what is it going to cost me in Fees, because I do not have enough miles.

Does anybody know what are the fees for each of the above trips.

AA has two direct flights to FCO, just not out of IAD. They fly direct to FCO from ORD and JFK.

Also, the IAD-FCO is all AA Codeshares/Partners. Not on AA metal.

You should still be able to see the taxes/fees and even put an award on hold even though you don't currently have sufficient miles to book it.
