Annual fee for Citi Gold member

I was shocked to find the annual fee of $85 charged to my card.
I am a citi bank gold member and I thought the annual fee to be waived for all citi gold member.
Am I doing something wrong?
I got my citi visa card about a year ago.

I have one login id for citi bank and the other for all my citi credit card.
Should I use the same login id for my bank account and citi credit cards by linking to my CCs from my citi gold account?

Mixed reports in this thread, around post 90-100:

I closed my citi brokerage account so I can't comment first-hand.

Anyone having trouble churning lately? Got denied for an AMEX card because I already have the Visa.

Cards that have been opened in the last couple of years are not waived. Cards opened in the past are grandfathered. it took two calls for me to get a rep to waive the fee for my year old card. Don't know the exact date of when policy changed.

In case you don't have quick enough success getting it waived for being a Citi Gold member, keep in mind that many people can get it offset with a credit (not the same as waived, but the same net effect) just by calling and asking:

without having Citi Gold or anything else like that.

Read all about the rules in the Wikipost of this master thread about Citi AA churning:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/credi...ost-first.html

Basically, you have to wait (12 to) 18 (to 26) months from your last card opening before you can successfully apply for a "normal" personal card again.

The exceptions are business cards, and (if you can deal with it) the super-high-and-not-wavied-annual-fee Executive card.

You're in a thread about this cards' benefits at AA, but you should go to the thread linked above for all questions about applying for Citi AA cards.
