The title of the thread is deceiving, as this fare cannot be purchased unless you have $2011.80 in your pocket (and it's a round-trip fare).
At any rate:

Got it. (My AAdvantage acct is a CA address, so I was able to get DEQM many times).
(AS)YVR-LAX(AA) ORD (AA) LHR v.v
This should be a nice MR. I've used a VIP outbound.
But, I would think I am in transit in LHR, because I am departing the nation within 24h, so APD is not due?

On a roundtrip business class ticket LAX-LHR, the US will levy $52.60 in taxes/fees (plus $4.50 for the airport for a total of $56.10). GB will levy $47.90 in regular tax + $187.80 in the ridicolous APD charge.

I manged to grab one of these in the other direction. Again, it was a match of BA's fare of GBP1000 for r/t business.
BA's fare would not allow upgrades but AA's books into I class so no problem upgrading with SWU.
So LHR-LAX-LHR in F for GBP1000 and 2 SWUs - great way to requalify for EXP!

BA vs. AA
This looks like a nice year-end MR to get me EXP for 2012.
Flights that look best are BA. Because I won't upgrade to first, anyone flown business with BA? I'm assuming the product is at least as good as AA's...right?

This is a great deal for biz - I fares during light load periods - that I think AA normally does most years around Thanksgiving and Xmas out of LHR. Great if you are a UK based expat looking to come home for the holidays!
