I see some flights are F0-Q0 (no fares of any kind)with lots of open seats on the seat map. Blocked? If so why block all the fare buckets though? I know the seat map isn't an accurate predictor but it still seems odd. Anyone have any insight? I'm just curious.

One has to question the lifestyle (and loneliness) of someone who voluntarily travels on Friday and Saturday evenings for mileage runs.

(Yes I understand these are one off mileage runs!)

Actually I like my Saturday trips. I often fly to the beach (Miami) or the West Coast and spend a winter Saturday somewhere warm. Then hightail back to cold NYC guaranteed an upgrade on a Saturday evening flight. A few drinks I'm I am happy as can be.

I hope to see something like this in 2012. I spend a couple of days on LAX/SFO MRs and then a couple days lounging in LA.

If you know people in the city you're travelling to, it can be a great way to catch up.

Also, I've had some great conservations with the people next to me on a couple of my MRs (which were on Friday nights).

This is essentially like a double EQM promotion for a period of three weeks (between the 6 and 27), because you can fly two trips for the price of one; the trips are about half the price they normally are. I snagged one for one of the weeks.

At the risk of cross-posting, this isn't a bad opportunity for someone to add points to a Gold or Plat challege, though somewhat pricey if you need to start from scratch.

I presume these book into deep discount fare so SFO-DFW @ 1464 miles per segment one would need 7 segments in order to complete a Gold challenge and 14 for Plat:
  • Gold for 18 months for $140 (fee) + $420 = $560
  • Plat for 18 months for $240 + $820 = $1060

Sadly I don't fly AA much anymore, and my Alaska and Qantas flights don't count towards the challenge, though I suppose I could use the AA flights to pad my Alaska EQM

Indeed. Ours is not to reason why; Ours is but to pay and fly.

Thanks AA. Just booked three consecutive SFO-DFW-SFO 688/1309 RTs on 10/25, 26 and 27. What the heck, gets me away from the office phones for a few days and home for dinner. ^ Anyone else on those dates, let me know.

Now another question: Why $49 SFO-IAH? Available through end of schedule.
