When award seats are released
Im trying to make a booking for nyc-nrt roundtrip in F or J for late june. I am not seeing any real availability. Does ANA release more award space close in or if there is nothing now i need to go for another airline? What is the timeline for award seats opening close in?

Ugh that puts in in a bad spot. I only have the transfer bonus with amex until 5/22 which is a month before when I want to go so I would have to commit the points and then hope something opens. What would you say is the percentage of seats in first that open up in the last two weeks? The alternative is I would spend a lot more points redeeming via singapore suites which is going to require a point commitment up front before I can even waitlist.

I'm currently holding F on IAD-NRT, but am hoping to go to NRT a day earlier. Right now IAD and ORD are both F5..and flights are about 6 weeks away. If they stay at F5 is it likely one will open up seats closer in? Other routes I should be looking at from the east coast?

As a NH Diamond, Almost half of June departure dates have IAD-NRT F award availability now.

2 weeks is very common but remember the 4 day rule. Especially in your case, NH does hide availability from partners. I wouldn't be surprised if they opened more seats for partners later on.
