Update summary from nufnuf77:

The status update currently seems to take about 15-20 calendar days. No email is sent immediately upon upgrade, but one may be received later (within a week or so). One has to visit the MilleMiglia site and look at one's card displayed under profile. The upgrades are probably processed externally to Alitalia, as neither Freccia Alata Plus line knew anything about it and one member received and email back from external processing team.

Physical card and upgrade voucher code to give status to someone else - 'Freccia Alata for you' are reported to arrive approx 5-10 days after the upgrade has been processed, depending on your postal address.

The coucher for 'Freccia Alata forYou' arrives in the welcome pack and has instructions and rules on how you can use this unique code to upgrade a family member/friend to Freccia Alata status for free. Can only be used once and the person receiving cannot be changed after it is applied.

The 'Business for you' upgrade (4x) is available from the moment one's status shows as Freccia Alata Plus. These 4 upgrade vouchers can be used for oneself or any other nominated person, and can be used by phoning the call centre. To upgrade, the original flight must be booked in P(Classica Plus) or Y, B, M and H(Classica). Upgrade inventory needed seems to be 'Z' class for business and 'A' class for Classica Plus.
It costs: 1 voucher to upgrade P-->Z(Business);
1 voucher for Y/B/M/H-->A(Classica Plus);
2 vouchers to upgrade Y/B/H/M-->Z(Business).


The new expiry date (March 2016 or 2017) will depend on your current status/card submitted, as per this quote from Alitalia:
The new, recognized status will be valid until March 31, 2016. If the status in the existing Frequent Flyer Program expires after March 31, 2016, the equivalent status recognized within the MilleMiglia Program will be valid until March 31, 2017. In no case will lifetime cards be issued.
Matching tiers
Silver level - Ulisse Club
Gold level - Freccia Alata Club <-- Star Alliance Gold
Platinum level - Freccia Alata Plus Club <-- OW Emerald or AA EXP (?)

MilleMiglia Status Match?

Applied August 7th for my wife and myself. Nothing yet. Sent a follow up email 2 days ago as well.

A friend of mine, who is 21 years old, sent a screenshot of his gold virgin ameirca account, because he did not have a card.

He checked his account, and it now says "millemiglia young".

Today he received an email in regards to his status match that his card he sent is not clear enough.

What is going on?

Until March 31, 2017
Have not received a physical card yet, nor confirmation email regarding upgrade.
Going to Brazil on Friday and hopefully it arrives before that and that the tier status is registered on KLM!

It will be difficult printing out the membership card from Alitalias webpage and use it as proof since the resolution of the card is horrendous.

Email received: 7th September
Physical card received: 8th September.

It was ok to show the print out of the card on the trip, but it does not feel very "Elite".

Because they apparently only just realised he was less than 25 (or whatever age is the limit) and enrolled him in this sub-section of the Millemiglia Programme reserved for young people.

It involves no status - he has not been "matched" to Millemiglia Young status, if that's what you are struggling with. It just means he has been enrolled in a special "section" of the main programme, which he was entitled to from the beginning, and he gets extra miles on AZ flights only. (are you sure he wasn't already a member of Millemiglia Young? He would have had to enter his birthdate when he enrolled, so he should have got it anyway. If he recently joined, then it is possible that his account has been switched to "Young" belatedly, and has nothing whatsoever to do with the status match request)

Google "Millemiglia Young".

So someone in the young program, if he is matched to gold status, he gets gold membership and stays part of the young program?

Anyone under the age of 25 who is a member of Millemiglia should also be a member of Millemiglia Young. It doesn't have to be requested; it should happen when you join (or soon thereafter). It has nothing to do with status. A Millemiglia Young member can hold any status in the program - and the ways in which status are acquired are no different.

All that is different for a "young" member is that they get 50% extra miles when flying on AZ and also a 20% refund/discount of the miles spent on booking AZ award flights [Alitalia only - no other partner is involved in these bonuses/discounts]. There may be other promotions from time to time with non-airline partners. But, other than that, there is no difference whatsoever in how the account is handled.

It's just an "add-on" that expires when you are 25. It's not a separate programme.

Well, I placed the request for my wife and I on the 9th, and it was Sunday the 23rd that I noticed that her account was updated already, nothing for me, I suggest you check her account. They do not send any notifications.
I just got confirmation that I've been matched as well.

Got an update today after submitting a request on 8/10 as well. Freccia Alata until 3/17 using my AS MVPG 75K status. My AS status has an expiry for 12/16 since I already requalified.

Applied on the 9th of August sent a follow up email after 2 weeks and my status got matched today.

sent my Ey Gold up to march2016 plus a statement from Ey saying i had earned enough miles to qualify up to march2017 but the benefit was given only up to 03-2016.

Sorry for the OT: I approached Etihad (via the Etihad Premium channel) to obtain a similar clarification about my new expiry date, having more than exceeded the Gold requalification level several months ago. No matter how simply I phrased the question, they could apparently not understand my question - they kept telling me that my status would expire on the "old" date, without ever apparently grasping that my query was instead related to having requalified and therefore extended my status period.

How did you request such a statement from EY? Through which channels?
