I must have completely missed part of the thread then.

Double miles PDX-Bay Area

It's official: http://www.alaskaair.com/www2/Promo/...asp?pid=AS0904

The separate announcement page says
The initial schedule for all of these flights will be operated with Horizon's 70-seat CRJ—700 regional jets.
It doesn't mention the Q400 or when it might switch over. But "initial" is an ominous word.

Modified already maybe? I'm not seeing any reference to the CRJ.

BOI-SJC on a Q400, 523 miles: 1h 59m

PDX-SFO on a 737, 550 miles: 1h 54m (AS), 1 h 45m (WN) (actually, PDX-OAK, WN doesn't fly PDX-SFO)

Why is this "ominous"? Q400s are pretty reasonable options for a 500-600 mile flight- a touch slower than a 737, but it's not really a huge deal, and if the tradeoff is having an extra frequency or two...

The tricky part is going to be PDX-SoCal without an RJ, once QX gets to that point... though I might note that WN doesn't have any direct PDX-BUR service (you'll be stopping in OAK, RNO, SMF or SJC first), and ONT is looking less and less tenable as airlines flee it.

You have to click through to the separate announcement here.

I flew QX2525 PDX-SFO last night... We were "Off" @ 20:49 and "On" @ 22:12 which is 1hr 23min in the air. We were "Out" @ 20:40 and "In" @ 22:17 which translates into 1hr 37min gate to gate.

EDIT: The return today (QX2520) was 1hr 19min in the air and 1hr 33min gate to gate.

In addition, KVS shows SoCal downgrades as well for PDX, choosing 15 June as a base [future] date:

(current), [future]
PDX - LAX: (4 AS/ 2 QX), [ 3 AS / 2 QX]

PDX - LGB: (2 AS/ 0 QX), [ 1 AS / 1 QX] (B6 trades one E90 for a A320 for summer)

I do hope that AS can reinstate some lost frequencies to PDX when the economy gets better.

Yikes! It's going to get awfully crowded in the A terminal this summer. And empty in the C terminal.
I wonder if they would consider letting QX utilize some of the C gates to relieve the crowding in the A terminal.

Current, as in today? I see 4 AS and just 1 QX. For the future, there's really only 1 QX, as one of those "direct" flights is a one-stop, adding more time for you to enjoy the CR7!
