STS-LAS - Thank you! Dramamine anyone?

I am so happy to get this direct route but really nervous about coming into LAS on a Q400. Turbulence is bad enough on real jet service, I dread what the Q400 will offer. No meals before this flight......

I've had my moments into YYC on a Q4 but I'm sure LAS will be more exciting than I care to experience.

Bumpiest descent I ever had was flying into YYC during summer on a Q400.

A ride in an Otter out of TKA in winter isn't the smoothest, either!

I always seem to find Nova Scotia to be real bumpy heading out over or back from the Atlantic.

It shouldn't be toooo bad. Its a late night arrival/departure.

If you want a real fun ride, try out US Express from PHX to PRC or FLG during the summer. Those monsoons make for a rip roarin good time.

Luckily those flights only last ~25 minutes!

Turbulence is pretty much directly proportional to wingloading, and a Q400 has a pretty high wing loading.
  • DHC8-400: 538 kg/m2 (at max t/o wight)
  • DHC8-200: 303 kg/m2
  • 737-700: 483 kg/m2
  • CRJ700: 480 kg/m2

So I wouldn't expect it to be all that bad comparatively, perhaps slightly better.

You guys are crazy! I can't stand the original Magic Mountain... and refuse to go on any more roller coasters (parents terrified me when I was younger in Disney World, probably same trip where we were stranded when Mark Air went under... but another story)
