Bump tickets upgradable with miles?

Apologies since I'm sure this has been discussed before...

Can bump compensation tickets be upgraded with miles?

I've always wanted to visit Barrow, but not on full fare and not in Y.

Just the reply I wanted. Thank you Missy.

I've finally reached the point of being on an overbooked flight with the luxury of not having to actually -be- on that flight.

Barrow, here I come

Good luck. I was going to go to Barrow with miles earlier this summer and couldnt find any space. I ended up booking to Prudhoe, but had to cancel the trip. What I'd reaalllllllly like to do one of these days is go back to Adak and see my old house

A couple of years ago I was going to go up to Barrow on a bump ticket. I waited too long and decided to go to ANC to visit a friend just before it expired. Another time I guess. Have a great time up there.

If you know of a not-Y commercial seat to Barrow, you have secret special knowledge.

Can bump tickets be upgraded with MVP Gold Guest certs or the NW/AS day of departure upgrade certs? My recollection from the past is that the MVP Gold Guest certs are NOT allowed in conjunction with the BTT, but I don't know about the NW cert.

No paper comp upgrades can be used with the BTT

Hey Missy,

How about the paid variety of upgrade on bump tix? I'd much rather part with $50-$125 rather than my miles.

Paid Upgrades are allowed on BTT's.

"FIRST CLASS TRAVEL MAY BE AVAILABLE FOR AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE - ASK AGENT FOR DETAILS"

Read from the front of a BTT.

Just to expand on what Eastbay1K said, AS does not offer anything other than Y service to/from Barrow. Only the cargo gets to fly "up front" !

It's definitely worth visiting, though.

Just had time to check back with this thread. Only Y seating indeed. Well, I suppose then it is ANC or MTX to BRW. I can live with that as long as SFO to Alaska is upgradable.

My question exactly -- how did you know? But not my answer, Missy.

How much do upgrades go for, say on DCA-SEA-SIT-JNU-SEA-DCA?

Be careful when booking the ANC-Barrow portion. Most, if not all, of these flights are on 727-200 combis. The have no first class & coach seating varies depending on freight that needs to go & the number of seats sold. The seats are at the back of the plane.

Also, I would not go after late September. It's cold, dark & dreary most of the time.
