”Moreover, many of Virgin America’s innovations continue with Alaska Airlines and other carriers, reflecting their profound influence on the industry. ”
What innovations continue on, actually? Mood lighting? I was never a frequent VX flyer even though I lived close to SFO and often biked past their HQ building in Burlingame.

Bad management, outside environmental factors, etc. Not because they were bad airlines people hated. People loved them. Too bad their executive teams didn't.

Right, but people loved other brands have met the same fate in other industries and you don’t see people reminisce or open museum exhibits to them. I think it’s more of a memory of when they felt times were better? Maybe because at some point it was glamorous to fly and people just have fond memories? I don’t know it’s just odd to me that people put these long dead airlines on a pedestal

And this is an exhibit, not a dedicated museum, but who cares?

Given that VX was a significant (some would say) part of SFO's history, it really isn't too surprising that the museum is doing an exhibit about them.
Airlines (and airliners) have a bit of a life after death, but that's not that unusual. Cars and car manufacturers also have a following after death. No one cares about defunct toilet paper makers, but there probably aren't any memories associated with TP while people still remember fondly their first car, their first trip to Europe on TWA, etc. etc.
Where it gets weird (IMHO) is when people try to re-use the names of dead airlines for something unrelated. The various re-incarnation attempts of PanAm come to mind. Or Eastern Airlines. That seems like a waste of money - it's easy enough to come up with a brand-new name for free... such as Northern Pacific Airlines (*cough*).

Change user name / username / handle: Can I? How?
They say they won't take requests for trivial reasons, but getting accused of being a Steven Segal Fan is no laughing matter. (if you want an amicus brief, I am willing to write to the admins that I laugh every time I see a post from your handle pop up).
