Flight Number: 384
Status: MVPeasant
Fare Class: G
Companion: None
Time the upgrade cleared or position on waitlist if didn't clear: Died 11/13.
Date of ticket purchase: December 10, 2023

Date: March 19, 2024
Route (Please bold if failure): BOS-SFO
Flight Number: 357
Status: Gold
Fare Class: Q
Companion: None
Time the upgrade cleared or position on waitlist if didn't clear: At gate after boarding started
Date of ticket purchase: March 8, 2024

First ever upgrade!
Thought I was going to die #1 again. The gate paged me before boarding started. They told me that the FC was technically full, but somebody still hadn't checked in. If I wanted, I could wait to board, and they would upgrade me if the person still didn't check in in 10 minutes.
The ice cream was lovely.

I'm not entirely sure. I boarded with group D and I think there was someone still after me who went to row 4.

I was on that flight, I'm just a lowly 75K, but I have never gone out at #15 on the list before these last week of Feb flights.
Seems every. single. mileage runner was on this trip, I saw a few of the same guys and gals on consecutive days, both legs.

I guess that's what happens when Double EQM teams up with 30% off and a three week advance fare for a promo announced in early Feb...

I was on that flight. As a 100K, I was number 10 on the upgrade. But yeah, there were quite a few, including myself, milage runners.

I have been at BOS from SFO, nonstop or via SAN, four times since February 1, and while I never felt like imposing on anyone, I did line up outbound and inbound waitlists for the fun of it to see the number of fellow mileage runners. Once seats were assigned, I could even get a casual glimpse of some of them, and they all fell into a group of not one, not two, but a full three shared characteristics, of which each statistically or historically could be perceived as not mainstream (but very nice).

That aside, Alaska flights leaving from BOS have a really bad track record in my experience. I have spent hotel nights courtesy of Alaska at both SAN and SFO due to missing a connecting flight. And somehow these westbound flights are way fuller than the eastbound ones, making upgrades to First almost unattainable.

I'm sure your fellow FTers would be interested in the results of your research.

Haha sorry no, individuals with green eyes, red hair and big ears need peace and quiet like the rest of us.

I was second on the upgrade list. The rule of thumb remains: fly out of IAD instead of DCA if you want an upgrade to SEA. Despite the massive growth of the NOVA suburbs, the AS elites still tend to congregate at DCA.

I don't think I've ever seen this many people on the upgrade list out of EWR

We were on the upgrade list as #1/#2 for 6 seats starting at T-72, but people below us kept getting upgraded and we were finally assigned 3C/3D at gate likely due to no shows.
