Is it me, or does Alaska sometimes remove upgraded people from the waitlist even within (the first few hours of) the check-in window (rather than specify the seats they got)?

I think so - because sometimes F is full with no one showing as UG on the screen / app. Maybe it has to do with when the flight goes under airport control.

I did 4 LAX-HNL RTs + 1 LAX-TPA that connected through SEA this month. Of the 12 possible FC UGs, 10 cleared. Of these, about 3-4 cleared within 24 hours of the flight. The 2 that did not clear were SEA-LAX and one of the LAX-HNLs. Overall quite happy. Gold 100K here.
