Alaska Air is nearing a deal to buy Hawaiian Airlines, a combination of rivals that could be announced as soon as Sunday, according to people familiar with the matter.

This is a developing story.

I have no idea if this rumor is true, but if it is, SEC laws and regulations would look unfavorably on widely announcing an acquisition internally before announcing it publicly.

Combined company to maintain Alaska Airlines’ and Hawaiian Airlines’ strong, high-quality brands, supported by a single, compelling loyalty offering.”

🤔 Not sure if paying 4x-5x premium and keeping brands separate is a smart move. But what do I know.
