We booked our son on TAP several years ago and haven't repeated that experience. Flight cancelled at the gate, "fun" experience getting them to take care of the hotel at point of departure (several hour drive for us), to get our son rebooked ("show up early, the flight will leave first thing in the morning"), rolling delays at the airport the next day ("who told you to show up this early..."), etc. Our son was thrilled though as it resulted in an additional unplanned hotel night for him in Lisbon before he was able to connect for the rest of his trip.

You know TAP stands for "Try Another Plane" right?

Sorry if everyone except me already knows this answer, but I've searched for an hour, everywhere, and can't find it. As a 75k, can I get upgrades on AA on award tickets? AA mentions that their own EXP's can get complimentary upgrades on award tickets, but there's no mention if Alaska 75k can as well.

how does complimentary upgrade on AA work for AS MVP 75K

sorry if this has been explained elsewhere. flying AA in MCE as an AS MVP 75K next month. In the AA app, I see that I have an upgrade request in for a complimentary upgrade to business. As an MVP 75K, when do I find out if it’s been awarded? With AS sometimes the upgrade happens at the airport or days before the flight. On AA only at airport? And am I the low man on the upgrade list behind any AA elites? Finally, how do I gauge the likeliness of being upgraded — strictly load dependent? Thanks in advance.

My experience with flying AA as a 75K over the past year is that they will upgrade according to their own windows. I have been upgraded 3 and 2 day prior to flights. Most upgrades cleared after the 24 hr check-in though. The upgrade list only becomes active after the check-in window opens and then you can see your position.

Okay: I'm a newbie 75K member – my BA miles for 2021 that I needed in order to hit 75K were just processed a few days ago – and as it so happens I'm in the middle of a trip to Guatemala on AA (and didn't get upgraded for the outbound trip because my 75K status wasn't yet confirmed via BA). To my very pleasant surprise, I checked my return itinerary the day after my 75K status went through, only to see that AA already had my new status in their systems and upgraded me! (and well before T-72, though I don't know when – I've yet to receive an email notification about it from AA) So:

1/30 AA1006 GUA-MIA – myself upgraded at T-96 (at minimum), or possibly T-120, on a 738

I'm spending a few days in Miami before continuing home – no upgrade on that flight yet, but I wouldn't have expected one anyway. That'll be my virgin flight on a 737 MAX.

The ExPlat window on AA opens at T-100. Interesting datapoint.

T-72

2/3 AA1943 CLT-MSY 738
Upgraded just before boarding. F had 3 open seats all week, then it was 1 at T-24, so there must have been missed connections due to winter storm Landon. I think we were #3&4 on the waitlist at T-12.

Walking down the jetway after getting the last minute upgrade my wife says "I'm starting to understand why you flew around the country for no reason last year"
