The chicken breast was dry, as expected, but still tasty. The saffron rice and lemon meringue were very good. Still better than what most other airlines are serving these days. No cookies were offered on the flight.

I thought the cod was...fine? To me it seemed mildly flavored and the cod was cooked well and not dry. Overall, it tasted like a lighter/healthier meal. Also, mine definitely looked less black than the one in gold10829's post. Our F/A also wrote different quotes for each of our meals which I thought was interesting.

No plated dessert meant the cookies came out, which ended up being southern toffee with nuts (maybe pecans?), and as expected, delicious.

It was pretty decent tho unremarkable and came with a lemon meringue tart. Service was very good and professional with a pass of the snack basket around an hour out of DCA.

This was my first transcon since COVID, but things mostly seemed normal except the coffee was in paper cups. My wife and I pre-ordered the kale bowl, which we both thought was pretty tasty. My neighbor had the onion frittata, I passed on that as I hate onions but it also looked pretty good. My son pre-ordered the fruit and cheese plate, which came with yogurt. There was one pass of the snack basket about an hour before landing; I selected the pea-toes based on reviews here and was not let down. We landed around an hour early due to favorable winds, all in all a very smooth flight although JFK Terminal 1 is pretty sad these days.

I was hesitant but tried the Bahn-mi. It was OK. The pickled slaw and Sriracha really made the sandwich. The bread was a bit too thick and some small bits were very soggy. Also, the banhmi had this sauce (Sriracha mayo???) that didn't really belong in a banhmi, imo. Overall though, it was fine. I woke up hungover that day so the carby bread was really appreciated. 😂

This was MUCH tastier than it looked - I really enjoyed it! Excellent service from the flight attendant in First, who gave me a warm welcome as a oneworld frequent flyer.

LAX-CUN
Lunch:
Entrée Salad with egg. (Other option was Beef Sandwich)
This was ok - the cauliflower was marinated in curry, which overwhelmed the flavor of the dish.

Both meals were delicious. The breakfast was very filling, as was the dinner. I know it has been mentioned before, but I can't get over the fact that it's a real filet! I would pay $35 in a restaurant and be happy. It's also great to see that even the disposable napkins retain the button hole.

I think a proactive crew would at least make one courtesy pass through the cabin at some point within an hour of landing to see if those passengers who were awake wanted something. Next time I will press the call button while others are still sleeping.

I know it is covid times but is it crazy to expect on a Redeye flight in First you would have an opportunity to get a coffee before landing?
You would think so, but I just flew a LAX-BOS redeye on a DL in C+ and there was no pre-landing service in C+, and I didn't notice activity in F, so no coffee before landing there, either.

I flew around 5 hours in F on a red-eye from ANC-PHX and didn't even get so much as a Biscoff....they served beverages but there was absolutely zero food. I have to believe the snack basket was loaded onto a flight of that length but it never showed up. Please report this Alaska Listens if you haven't already done so....I sent a note about the lack of food and already got a response from Customer Care along with a $50 credit.

Something new: breakfast box. Ozery (from Canada) "fruit and grain breakfast bun," almond butter, strawberry preserves, nuts, Kind bar and a tangerine. The bun was soft and had raisins.

Much nicer than the tapas box I had last month on this route. This flight is the first in the morning so it's not double catered from Seattle.

Snack basket about 30 minutes later.
That was catered in Seattle on the inbound the evening before. No catering in DEN at this time.

Any insight into what the AS 2XXX flights are serving on First nowadays (PDX -> SFO, SFO -> AUS)? Planning a small getaway trip with the partner and unsure if the 5K miles differential between PE and F is worth it. A nice meal (or cookie since I stole hers last time and she holds a grudge against me for it) would probably tip the scales in favor of it.

Full (well, full per current standards) beverage service on SFO/LAX (Skywest) at 6 am yesterday ... except no water bottles, except on request. Unfortunately, my two screwdrivers were unsuccessful in assisting with naptime on the LAX/EWR connection.

Yes, no catering in Denver. I meant that the catering doesn't come in the immediate inbound flight. I noticed that Alaska has been using two gates in the morning, C38 and C39 (two aircraft parked overnight). One is the 8:35 a.m. DEN-SEA, the other is the 12:05 p.m. DEN-SEA. I wonder what the later flight would have for catering. Tapas box I'd guess. I was on that flight before I switched to the earlier one; no pre-order was showing on the app.

PDX-SFO is only around 550 miles, so no meal or cookie, just beverages and the snack basket.

AUS-SFO is about 3x longer, and worth it. Here's a data point from yesterday with one of the new menus for mid-cons starting on the 19th of this month:

For the cookie inclined who take short flights, my Trader Joes sells 3-packs of salted chocolate chunk cookies that are quite good. They're not warm and gooey, which also makes them less messy, but you could heat them over your coffee like a stroopwafel. They may or may not be available at other TJs - a lot of the baked stuff seems to be supplied locally and can vary regionally.

SEA-TPA later this week.

Squash -> Mascarpone Butternut Squash Risotto with roasted butternut squash, herb marinated roasted tomato, wilted spinach, and smoked tomated cream sauce.

Chicken -> Boneless Roasted Chicken Breast marinated with Clementine and fennel, accompanied by roasted fennel and clementine slices, saffron basmati rice, and marinated Tuscan kale.

of course KALE is back. Ugh. We DID kinda ask for it though....

Glad you enjoyed the food and service. Just as a matter of clarification, warm cookies are not served on these flights with the new hot meal service as a dessert is included on the tray. The warm cookie was always meant to be a sweet treat for after the meal/snack.
