I do access www.alaskaair.com because it's free but it's so painfully slow that it discourages me from ever actually paying for wifi access.
Emails and surfing net without issue.

The lounge option is an interesting one to me. My gut was "Why would someone flying only 10k a year choose a lounge pass?". But then I think about the fact that I have an Amex Plat for lounges because it enhances the airport experience, so yeah lounges are a nice way to start a vacation! If the AS crowd is anything like the DL one, there will be griping about overcrowding if this comes to fruition
Wi-fi and food are probably pretty solid contenders too as an option. Give back something that has a marginal cost, that has an expected breakage cost (expires within X time), and if that gets you an extra ticket, it's well worth it.
I wonder if AS is considering giving everyone a selection at 10k on their way up towards even 75k qualification, or if it's more like an end-of-year bonus.

What would they call the new tier? MVP Honorable Mention? MVP Runner Up?
I reckon I might only fly 10k next year, but none of the things they are considering offering would make me want to choose AS preferentially for those 10k miles versus just flying whomever has the most convenient option. Still, this might be a pretty reasonable loyalty play for leisure flyers in SEA and PDX who go to Hawaii or New York once or twice a year.

When a person can theoretically qualify for this benefit by flying just one roundtrip, BOS-HNL for example, providing a higher frequent flyer status is unnecessary and too easy. Free lounge or wifi access? Heck no. Excessive users is already a concern for both, retreat and relaxation is already hard to come by at lounges.
It really should be driven by how much revenue it generates on AS than the mileage churned by a passenger. If, 10K was earned by series of short hops, say 5 roundtrips or $1500 spend, I might feel different.
