Help deciphering JL/AA mileage credit

Not true. Just because they gave you credit doesn't mean the credit is correct. Sometimes they are being nice?
Like how they responded by adding 1 mile to someone's account to keep it from expiring. How is that "correct"?

Since OP requested manual credit, assuming AS read and reviewed his receipt, they're allowing for the miles irrespective of the "marketed and operated" by carrier exemption. Of course, they're well within their right to refuse mileage, but, in this case, they've decided to award it. Unless we're going with the AS rep 1) didn't know their own T&C, or 2) didn't read it, or 3) read it and didn't understand it, we can only assume, in this specific case, AS has decided to award the miles.

Only question now, is what's the correct mileage amount, in my view. I sense from some of the answers above, an inquiry may lead AS to suddenly reverse course and rescind their decision? What would be the reason? We made a mistake? We didn't read it? Our CSR was grossly misinformed?
