Mileage Plan award travel sale 4/16-4/18

The award sale is back. SEA-EWR for 8K plus many, many more. I think the Tcons used to be 7.5k during the sales, but still not bad.

It looks like limited Tcons from California cities which is interesting, since it seems like they were focusing some of the best deals there. I guess the 2x miles promo makes up for it.

What a lame-o award sale...many of the "sale" routes like PDX-EUG/FAT/RDM/MSO/PAE are on sale for 5K, but that's what they normally are without the sale....I booked FAT-PDX-BOI for 5k months ago. Also, I'm trying to find a single day on the schedule when PDX-RDM is 5K, but haven't found a single seat for that price...anyone have any luck?

9k to MSY isn't too shabby.

Is PDX-OGG for 12.5k any good? The problem with this sale (for the flyer) is that you really don't know what's a good deal unless it is a route with which you are familiar with normal award pricing.

Certainly not SFO-IAD or SFO-PHL which are on "sale" for 12,500 miles each way. Makes me wonder if 20K one ways will be the new norm flying to the east coast and they plan to do away with the lower 12,500 mile one way award except for these sales.

The better value from SFO seems to be 9K one way to MSY and 12.5K one way to Maui. Lots of 5K one ways (SEA, PDX, LAS, PSP, and more).

Yeah I'm seeing literally NOTHING on "sale" for ANY of the rest of my anticipated travel dates for 2019.
I'm like you folks: Maybe this "sale" is really their new way of saying "Hey! In three days, all our prices are going UP!"

thats the normal base price for PDX-OGG.

As others have speculated, I’m concerned this is a sign of forthcoming increase in miles cost (and therefore devaluation) on transcon routes. That would be in line with the disingenuous roll-out of “saver” fares at the former price of main cabin fares.
