Finnair (AY) Award Availability

Just looking at booking a flight from MIA - LHR and stumbled upon Finnair as an option.... looks like redemptions are now available.

Clearly you found the only J seat avail. us-hel. I can only find Y for 30K which is okay, but likely not to come with lounge access or preferential seating.

The taxes (low) are pretty amazing though.

You must be accustomed to the punishing BA surcharges (also charged by AA when redeeming AA miles for BA travel).

$24.30 isn’t low enough? You’re going to be difficult to please, I think.

Of course, coming back from Europe is usually where the taxes are high(er). And departing from or spending more than 24 hours in the UK will incur APD.

As as long as it’s just taxes and not “surcharges”, I’m very happy.

Doesn't seem to be phantom (which happens sometimes on AA)... booked DEL-HEL just now. The HEL-TXL leg I wanted crapped out though, will see what I can do to add that later.

Asia-NRT-DEL-HEL-Europe with stopovers in each city for 70k in J (and JL/AY J) is pretty damn sweet.

CX is still cheaper to HK. 250K points RT in J to Asia. the future of MP pricing is grim

Are you saying that $24 in taxes is high?

And I almost forgot to say that I'm glad to see there is some award availability now. I was wondering if it would ever show up.

Wasn't someone recently begging for Russia/Asia? Their wish has come true, I guess i shouldn't say never when it comes to AS bookings?

intra-europe is allowed for 12.5K Y / 20K J. Russia falls under europe for this partner

Pretty exciting stuff! Exactly when I needed it as well.

Edit: Tried booking BKK-HEL-BCN and that didnt work. But BKK-HEL worked. Maybe there's an issue with intra-europe flights?

it is definitely doable with 12.5k Y and 25k J for something crazy like LPA-HEL-TFS, 13 hours intra europe.

Did you complete the booking though? My DEL-HEL-TXL booking crapped out. DEL-HEL worked though.

No I did not go book, as I was just toying around to see if the JL thing can be replicated. Also for most leisure routes AY has no J cabin. But I say their LHR route may be worth it. As for the connectivity issue, I think it may be just some IT problems as AY redemptions have to be able to connect to show its value, since HEL is rather far off from most continental Europe destinations
