That's changing - the blue blankets are going away on red-eye flights and going forward the quilted throws will be available only on the premium transcon routes, both day and night flights. Those cities that this applies to are BOS, BWI, CHS, DCA, EWR, FLL, IAD, JFK, MCO, PHL, TPA and all Hawaii cities.

And also disappointing this does not apply to transcon distance flights ex-ANC, specifically ANC-LAX/PHX/LAS/ORD.

You'd have to ask the people that make the decisions, I'm just reporting what I know. Not saying I disagree - It seems logical that RDU would be in the same realm as the others, but it's not on the list.

Was on the PDX - ATL redeye on 6/30 in F. The reason the FA gave for no blankets is that they "couldn't wash them in ATL." Not sure why the easy answer is just load 2x the new blankets and wash them back in Seattle/PDX after the return flight (if that indeed is the reason and wasn't made up).
Frankly, it's ridiculous, especially because the GA said there were going to be blankets on the flight. There's definitely a disconnect / training issue between that Alaska needs to address.
