Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Is Live

MFA is live, please use this thread as a place to discuss why it's still not good enough and how Alaska's IT will lead the airline to proverbially "crash and burn".

Edit: looks like if you have a passkey set up it works as well.

Does this require a specific version of the AS app? I'm not seeing any updates available in the App Store, and I don't see the option in version 7.13.0

Also not seeing anything on my profile on AlaskaAir.com under "User ID and Password"... is this a beta or invite-only thing?

Do you have a passkey set up? Like on your iPhone does it ask if you want to "sign in to alaskaair.com with your password for [email protected]" if so, that is MFA. Notice when you try to login simply using Face ID it doesn't work.

Is it for the app only? Or a select group of users? The website, even though it seems to be using the same auth server, is not doing 2FA for me, on different devices and in incognito mode.

Yes, I am on 7.13.0. I am not an expert but maybe one of the many people here in the industry can opine. Perhaps its a phased roll out.

That was my partner's device who does not have a passkey. My device had me login today, wouldn't let me login with normal Face ID and then had me sign in with passkey Face ID. I think once you do the Passkey Face ID it keeps you logged in on that device. My partner's number was not saved to account, it is now saved as primary.

I signed out and signed in using the Android mobile app and didn't get a 2FA prompt. Nothing on desktop either. I also have no passkey option.

Sounds like it. Disappointing. Mods should update the thread title to make it clear until AS announces it's available for everyone.

Email from AS after I updated my wife’s Atmos account to add her email address as non-primary.
