And just changed the domestic (Oz) tag on one of said tickets with no issues for an even exchange. The sky is not (yet) falling, but I'd book ASAP because the logic to price and ticket at an entirely new level and fare class doesn't appear out of nowhere...

Hi All,

I also got one of the 80k J tickets on QF via AS.

Has anyone tried calling and getting AS to match to the 55k price? Thanks!

You may be in luck. Check your MP activity. On 5/9, I see redeemed and redeposited 80k. Then on 5/15, redeemed 55k. I still see I fare on Qantas manage booking.

Wow really? Did this happen automatically or did you call them?

My redemption is still 80K, no activity after that.

Auto...I did call in minutes after initial booking to try and get a stopover in SYD, which was declined as no award space available, meaning they couldn't create a stopover itinerary with I space.

I decided to call Alaska MP today and ask about the 80K pricing on QF flights. The first agent I spoke to talked to his "back office" and came back with "Flights on QF have never been offered at 55K". At that point I asked for a supervisor. She took a look at my QF booking (DFW-SYD-PER in J) and immediately said " this looks like a glitch, the service class it is booked in is the one for Air tahiti nui not Qantas, this happened to a lot of people but I have no idea how to fix it". She put me on hold and about 25 min later came back and said they would redeposit the 80k miles and withdraw 55K instead! Huge surprise but I got back 50k miles on 2 tickets!

Bringing this thread back real fast. Currently on the flight I booked using 120K miles for a JAL biz flight. No issues at all checking in—and ticket shows I’m in C class even tho AS website said I class. We’ll see if I get any EQM for it let alone 70% vs 125%

I received notification of sched change on QF11 yesterday. I called today and was able to get my previously ticketed NZ-(layover)-SYD-LAX to NZ-(stopover)-SYD-LAX. Itinerary qualified for free change due to significant schedule change.

Did you end up earning mileage on this award?

No—but I also credited to AS for lounge access at JFK so they definitely had the opportunity to fix the ‘problem’. Story might have been different had I credited to AA/BA.
debating if I submit for manual credit (if I can find the boarding pass) but probably won’t cause I already was able to redeem for an award that shouldn’t have existed in the first place lol
