I got the "Confirmation Letter" today on my 80k booking so it seems a little more hopeful.

Sorry, I don’t follow the going rates for these airlines/routes/award fares so this thread is a bit Greek to me. The thread is titled with “devaluation” but also a bunch of you booked award tickets during the event.
Is the thread title incomplete? Or am I misunderstanding something? |
Alaska redemption in Business class to the South Pacific (from the US) has been one of the best values around (55k one way). The title is because seats began to show up at 80k on certain dates (instead of 55k) prompting people to think that there was a devaluation. On the other hand, Qantas non-stops to the US haven't had much availability in business class, which is why I jumped in for an 80k ticket. There was widespread availability for about a day (clearly some type of error) and then it all vanished. Hope that helps...

A few days ago EVA J wide open for a few hours, and then Asiana, and now OW?
Looks like this issue is not unique to one airline not even one alliance. Hope CX will be next. Anyone has any idea about load factor in J? |

CX isn't remotely back to normal service levels yet. Routes and North America capacity still down. Probably going to be a bumpy ride to get back to "normal" award inventory much like what happened when US-EU/UK traffic fully opened up in late 2021 (keeping in mind "normal" still means less F than before because 9F 747s got replaced by 6F 777s). |

Is the thread title incomplete? Or am I misunderstanding something? The thread quickly evolved into a discussion of what turned out to be an error by AS, which included wide open QF J US-Australia at 80k. That's an excellent price, especially considering current cash fare prices to Australia. |
I didn't see any mention of this, but like BA now, stopovers weren't allowed on QF with the award level that was release at 80K. Not sure if they are phasing them our or what. Customer service claims they still exist, but they just don't work anymore for BA and now a few others it looks like.

For my recent JL award trip in April, full. But since you didn't specify a date, route or carrier other than OW, you might as well ask here.

Unlike ANA/BR/JL who still do close-in J award release, CX seems is shutting down award J entirely on North America routes. |
I would love to see some sort of higher priced J options on QF. 55K each way in J is a hell of a bargain with going prices being 200K each way on UA. But there has been no seats at all on QF of late. Given that, 80k with availability would be a deal and much appreciated.

Did they take away premium redemptions or something? This new website interface is atrocious. I cannot figure out how to see partner F and J space on international itineraries.

Specifically on CX North America route all dates.

China's only been reasonably open for a couple of months now, I wouldn't be expecting a flood of last minute CX award seats. Also a lot of access to China markets right now is through HKG. That doesn't exactly help with making awards available.

See https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/35242622-post43.html for a possible workaround. Haven’t tried it myself… |
Amusing!
There are no longer Elite complimentary upgrades on AS metal flights that are part of a Partner award. All AS metal awards are not affected; or are they?
From the new UI search. "Note: First class or Premium class upgrades on award travel are only available on itineraries with only (owned and operated by) Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air flights." Does that exclude OO? Iguess it does! James |

I have two J booked at 60K VCE-DUB-SEA-YVR for mid-July. VCE-DUB in Main. When I was looking last fall, there were quite a few options for summer 2023 travel.

Since airlines miles has lost most of its value. There is no reason to loyal to an airline.
