Wait, what? So if I fly AS to SEA to connect to a partner flight, and the whole thing is an award, I don’t get a free PC seat on the AS leg if I am MVPG75K?!
As for PC, that is a good question. If your status doesn't allow PC at booking, will you still be able to move into PC at your window? Will you be able to choose PC as a 75K+ at booking? That isn't clear. Perhaps I am jumping the gun on that one and it only applies to First upgrades. For short West Coast flights, it may no be that big of a deal but if you are flying JFK-SFO-TYO, no status based complimentary upgrade eligibility on JFK-SFO is a bit of a bummer. James |
Hi All,
I also got one of the 80k J tickets on QF via AS. Has anyone tried calling and getting AS to match to the 55k price? Thanks! |

A few days ago EVA J wide open for a few hours, and then Asiana, and now OW?
Looks like this issue is not unique to one airline not even one alliance. Hope CX will be next. Anyone has any idea about load factor in J?

I'm extremely grateful to have my ticket and I hope that it holds. I'm not eager to have eyes on it. As a data point, the same ticket issued directly from QF is 1.2 million points. Seriously. Incredible.

Oof indeed!
Does anyone have experience in changing an already ticketed itinerary in these devaluation situations? I booked last week SYD-YVR on QF for 55K, but in the event I find availability on a different date that works better for me and call to reissue the ticket, still QF J, will it come back at 80K or 55K? |

Was there a thread for Eva or Asiana? Went to the respective FF sub-forums and couldn't find anything about Eva or Asiana.
Appreciate your comment. That's what I was thinking too. Would love to know if anyone has success in getting points back though haha. EVA was short lived, Asiana lasted a day or two. I have enough miles but the Asiana J seems bit old and outdated hard product, so gave it a pass in the end. |

I didn't see any mention of this, but like BA now, stopovers weren't allowed on QF with the award level that was release at 80K. Not sure if they are phasing them our or what. Customer service claims they still exist, but they just don't work anymore for BA and now a few others it looks like.
Nothing of the sort with QF. Stopovers are allowed on eligible A/U/T fare when redeeming points. The 80k awards were none of the above. |

Like I said, BA is gone for sure. Except in LHR, for stays of less than two weeks. That's a big devaluation to me. |

Where are you seeing that stopovers are only allowed on the cheapest fare award classes? Makes no sense they'd only offer them on the cheaper ones. I am curious if anyone has gotten a stopover on QF to work anytime recently.

UA just implemented no notice devaluation on its own and partner redemptions. Not a good feeling when AS has some funkiness going on.

That's the entire point of abolishing award charts, innit? "We don't need to give you notices, there's no chart, the awards cost what they cost. Suck up and deal."
