AirTran / IRROPS expectations
Hello - I'm planning on flying out from TPA-SFO in February 2014 as part of a positioning flight to Hawaii for a honeymoon. There is only one FL flight for me to utilize business class and it arrives after 11pm...staying overnight and then departing OAK very early next morning.
I noticed the cancellation rate for the ATL-SFO flight seems unusually high (37%) -- if this happens, could I expect them to try and put me on another carrier (i.e. Delta) to any of the area airports (SFO, OAK, SJC) that night instead of waiting until the next day? Is there any benefit to being an Elite in this situation?
Thanks in advance for your help...

That number does seem high. But remember stats are based on the previous month. A fairly large number of those flights may have been cancelled in July after the Asiana crash.

To answer your question, no. FL does not have IRROPS agreements with any other carriers. At best, they might be able to re-book you on a WN flight(s).

FL Irrops
They seem to have a lot of this going on lately out of ATL. Some last of the day flights have a really high cancellation rate. At my last cancellation, I basically was stuck with no help given. Asked them to put me on a DL flight, you're kidding, seriously, was the response. They may be able to put you on a WN flight yes, but last time I was "stuck" I had to wait for a day to get the next available flight. I wouldn't do it on the last flight of the day since you have an important connection to make to Hawaii or you could miss the whole honeymoon. Learned not to schedule the last flight of the day on AirTran. And now with 717's moving over to DL, this might make the remaining 717's and 737-700's scheduled a little tighter.(Your flight is on a 737-700 )

WN would be a good Plan B, except the last flight leaves about a half hour after the FL flight. Would be very, very tight.
