Priority Pass Select Guesting Privileges with Chase
Hi have a Chase Sapphire Reserve card with Priority Pass Select. In the past I could guest my entire family. I have read that they are now limiting members to two guests.
Has anyone actually been billed for additional guests? Does it matter if they are kids or immediate family?
Thanks!

Chase does not limit the number of guests, that policy is set by each lounge. The lounge attendant knows nothing about the terms of your membership. The attendant will report the number of guests to Priority Pass. Chase will pay for two guests, and bill you for the others.

Chase decided to start billing for guests beyond 2 per visit. Some people were being ridiculous about it--guesting in 15-20 people traveling with them. I once saw a guy in Cancun guest in his entire extended family...about 12 people....into a very small lounge. The crowding is unfair to everyone else. (look what happened with Centurion lounges until they limited guesting there)

So how does the accounting really work here? Does Priority Pass just act as intermediary and pass whatever charge from lounges to Chase, and Chase just pays them as it receives the bills, or does Chase pay Priority Pass a one time annual fee per member and be done? Basically who takes on the risk associated with the costs if people visit the lounges in a frequency higher than projected.

Chase Priority Pass memberships
Here's the basic information on how to get a Prioroty Pass if you have a Chase Sapphire Reserve card:
Basic Entry Information:
If you have never used a Priority Pass lounge click HERE to read how it works.
philemer's PP card arrived 20 days following approval of CSR. Others have reported an even quicker delivery. Yes, it comes via USPS.
Authorized User will receive their own PP card.
The PP Select membership offered through the CSR now includes digital pass access. Sign up in advance here: https://www.prioritypass.com/chasedmc
Note: Some lounges may not accept the digital pass. Make sure to check the PP lounge directory details for the specific lounge you plan on visiting.
To sign up for Priority Pass Select, as soon as the account shows up online:
1. Click on Go To Ultimate Rewards.
2. Scroll down to the very bottom left and click on "Card Benefits"
3. Activate Membership to request card.
4. Card can't be expedited. Some members have reported success in charging the lounge access to their CSR account and requesting a refund from Customer Service. However, others have reported that the lounge access was refunded via the travel credit.

Here's how it works:
1) the operator of the lounge sets policy about how many guests are permitted, whether PP members can be admitted at certain times of the day, etc.
2) Priority Pass is the intermediary/network for admitting members - doesn't care how many guests are admitted....just records and tracks however many the lounge operator allows to enter
3) Chase (or whatever bank sponsored the PP Select membership) decides how many guests are included for free with the membership, and how many need to be charged to the associated credit card account
This type of lounge model, while a bit unwieldy to contemplate, is actually quite successful around the world. It has led to the proliferation of lounges in airports where no single airline or operator could justify operating costs alone. Juliaca, Peru, and Oaxaca, Mexico come to mind as examples. Some airlines that offer a branded lounge actually use a third-party hospitality company to operate the lounge and allow Priority Pass members to use the lounge at off-peak hours (when the primary sponsoring airline does not have a flight departing within three hours). More revenue leads to the longevity of the lounge.
