oneworld Emerald priority/lounge/security

Hello all,

I was curious if anybody had experience when travelling with a non-status partner with airberlin while accessing lounges and using priority security/priority boarding/checkin in TXL and LAX.

I have read the oneworld site and it states that I am allowed to access the lounges with one guest. However during booking and with a follow-up call, airberlin claims that only I as a single passenger have access to these perks and that I could use priority checkin while my partner should wait in the longer line-up.

Since we're doing TXL->LAX->KOA return, these amenities are crucial to our sanity.

I've never had any problems as a *G with United/US/AC and guests, so I'm curious about experiences with OW and airberlin specifically.

Cheers

Edit: The title is misleading. I am sapphire in fact and not emerald.

The OW lounge at TXL is a BA Terraces lounge, so you shouldn't have any problems getting in there. YMMV with priority check-in, but if you present yourselves together, with your docs first, I suspect the efficient (and usually mum) check-in agents are unlikely to give you any grief.

As far as security goes, most gates at TXL have their own security screening checkpoints, so there is only one line available for use. More frequent TXL fliers can correct me on this if I'm wrong, since I've never flown out of terminal C, but it's been my experience that the lines aren't particularly long since most people go through security directly after checking in.

You should have no problems at all when checking in together and visiting either of the lounges (BA and AF are your options, BA has better offerings imo) with one guest. Long-haul departures often leave from gates A0 and A1 iirc, there might even be a priority lane at security. I don't think they will send your +1 to the regular line as long as the two of you enter together.

Your AmexPlat received MPC Gold will get you and a guest into the LAX Admirals Club if that's the connecting carrier to KOA. And as noted, you have BA Silver which gets you and a guest into the Terraces lounge, as does your MPC Gold.

If you, like the thread title suggests, have a oneworld Emerald card this will also get you access to the AA Flagship Lounge at LAX, which is a lot nicer than their mediocre Admiral's Clubs.

On the return flight LAX-TXL you will be departing from TBIT at LAX. The oneworld First Class Lounge is located in this terminal and your Emerald card will get you and your partner in. I did quite like it there.
