AB & oneworld

I just checked in a minute ago in DUS. With my IB Gold card.

Staff is still very bad trained.

1. On the boarding card is not mentioned ref. my gold level.
2. My luggage does not receive a priority tag.
3. With my boarding card I do not get the sticker for the fast lane.
4. Nothing is mentioned that I have access to a Lounge.

Today is not a busy day, no waiting for security check,..... but why do they not inform about these benefits for Gold? I assume they do not know what OW Gold means.

No having a coffe in the newley renovated Hugo Junkers Lounge.

i always check my ticket on check-in. happend to me before in Greece on AB flight with AB emarald status. They told me they dont know that status, therefore i dont have one. only after insisting to talk to airport manager they gave in on checking if AB has that status. its not an AB problem, its an issue of training the ground staffs of that airport.

With BA Silver checked in last time week ago at DUS. Gave up to find any priority checkin desk (if there are any there?) and just went to regular one. Guy at desk there knew perfectly what Sapphire means, adviced where is the lounge etc. No priority tags are available at *O as perk to elites, this is not *A/*S. Boarding card always reflects status and has "priority security" sign, doesn't matter where I check-in (internet, desk, automat).

Surprisingly checkin staff at DUS not even mentioned Airberlin "waiting areas" to OW elites (as we cannot enter there) - TXL priority checkin desk always sends pax there (confirmed by person taking phone calls from entrance)...

You got what you are entitled for:

There are no luggage benefits from other airlines within oneworld.

As Emerald you get:
- Lounge access
- Seat Reservation (of XL Seats, but you have to call)
- Priority Checkin and Boarding

No Access to the "Exclusive Waiting Areas", which I do not understand.
Online seat reservation is not possible.

Fast Track is not an Oneworld benefit, but I got a "Fast Track" Sticker on my online BPs.

My experience at VIE was perfect (back when I was OW Sapphire): I used priority check-in, got priority bag tags, got access to priority security. No priority boarding though. Online BP also mentioned ability to use priority security. And I got lounge access with no problem.

What I don't like is that I'm only able to use benefits after check-in or by calling customer services. Why can't they recognize my status when purchasing ticket and let me choose my seat online?

Well, AB used to be great airline - and HG still is. Therefore AB/HG are my first choice for a years (compared to Austrian, which would be another option), but way their implementation to OW works is very disappointing as well as their customer service center during recent months.

This article might be somewhat relevant to OW implementation: http://centreforaviation.com/analysi...oneworld-70349

I remember reading that new CEO of AB don't really think that joining OW was good decision.
