AB fare classes

Most other forums include a fare class directory, which shows the relevant "families", i.e. groups of fare which have the same kind of service, earning etc.

As far as AB/HG in Europe is concerned, I understand that there are three economy class fare families:

- semi-flex (rebookable for a fee, non-refundable) low mileage earning: 250 miles intra european/125 miles domestic
- semi-flex (rebookable for a fee, non-refundable) high mileage earning: 1000 miles intra european/500 miles domestic
- full flex (rebookable/refundable for free): 1500 miles intra european/750 miles domestic

However, I have no clue what booking classes relate to these groups.

Can somebody help with this? Thanks.

Based on the available information, the Fare structure appears to be:

W/E/A: Unknown
O/Q/N/G: Eco Saver (25%/125mi)
S/V/L/M: Eco Basic (100%/500mi)
K/H/B/Y: Eco Flex (150%/750mi)

Thanks, KVS. However, I definitely got 1000 miles (Eco Basic) for a flight ZRH-TXL in N and Q class ... Now, I don't have experience with other fare classes, but it looks like they are classified Eco Basic.

How long ago was your flight? AB had recently made changes to its Booking Class structure (likely in connection with its upcoming OneWorld membership).

Based just on my topbonus account statement I digged out this rule:

European routes
1500 Y

1000 A B G L M N O Q S V*

250 P

(* V... just funny about it, seven months ago V got me 250, last months 1000)

Domestic (Germany)
1000 D

I book via a travel agent and I'm AB Gold.

Airberlin/NIKI's websites are very unhelpful when it comes to finding out exactly what fare class the trip will be booked into.

The only way to find out is to cross check on an online travel agent's website. Look for the same flights/prices/itinerary there and with many sites you should see the fare class displayed. Not ideal, but it's the only way to find out for sure.

I don't understand why airberlin/NIKI don't show this information on their website, especially as it's quite important for those of us who collect airmiles.

This is the listing on ABs website for longhaul flights. No fareclasses are displayed for shorthaul but I would assume those to be identical:

just fly - Z, G, P, E, W

fly deal - K, M, L, V, S, N, Q, O, H

fly classic - K, H, Y, B

fly flex - J, C, D, I

Double listing of K and H in fly deal and fly classic; I don't know if this is an error or intentional.

AB fare classes

No! Same booking class can appear in most fares! So the same booking class can result im different milage earnings!

CDJI are Business Class.

YBHK are flex
All others depend in the fare not on the booking class!

How do they technically distinguish different fares, without using the booking class?
