Melbourne Air NZ Lounge Entry (more than 4hrs+)

Hi Guys,

Was wondering whether anyone had any experience with this a similar situation.

Myself and my partner is traveling from MEL-AKL this Friday. I'm on the 350pm flight and my partner on 655pm. I'm traveling in J and Gold and partner is zilch anything. So technically, I can guest one person in - do you think they will deny entry to my partner as her flight is way too far in advance of mine...? Obviously, if the lounge is full, I would understand but was wondering whether anyone has had any similar experiences...?

Thanks!

Technically you can only guest your partner in if they are on the same flight, so you are kind of out of luck there already. Also bold move to fly yourself in J and your partner on the Y-only red-eye

I thought the guest only had to enter at the same time?

*A rules are Golds can only guest folks on exactly the same flight.

However, AirNZ has (I think) a more generous rule if guesting into an NZ lounge. But I haven’t confirmed this.

Every single time I bring a guest in (that doesn't have any status), the machine just beeps red and they allow them through. I don't ever think I've seen the rep check why the person is "denied" entry on the computer screen or not... Maybe a seperate error comes up if they are not within the 4hour time?

Air NZ's site has now been updated to specify the need to travel on the same flight, for both Gold and Elite:

That's history, when you could guest anyone in on any *A flight on the same day.

And I can confirm that is the case. Different errors - as Gold I also got the dreaded red light when I was just a tad earlier than T-4 hr at the WLG domestic lounge. They looked at the screen and joked "sir you had to come back in 13 minutes" before waving me in.

If you have a priority pass perhaps you could use their restaurant?

Yes you are correct AIRNZ is more generous !

Guest and child lounge access

Guest lounge access

You are welcome to bring one guest with you to Air New Zealand Lounges prior to the departure of your Air New Zealand flight. Like you, your guest needs to be departing on an Air New Zealand ticketed and operated flight, from the same airport terminal as you, that day.

Well, I will try this tomorrow and report back. Hopefully, if the lounge isn't too full, they will be lenient and let my partner in at the same time as me! Fingers crossed!

Good luck

My Gold Elite Partner spouse was able to take two guests in this week, rather than the one guest the rules permit (a rule enforced in Auckland on her outbound journey) so Im optimistic for you if the lounge isnt busy.

Replying back with the result: got in with no problems with my partner. I scanned my BP, beeped green and I just said this was my guest/partner and she scanned (beeped red) and we just walked right in

Not sure if lounge staff looked at the computer screen to check anything but lounge wasnt full either.

Good result overall!
