New Platinum Benefits?

A quick review of the Northwest Worldperks forum shows that Northwest is taking action to address the much bemoaned lack of differentiating benefits for Platinum Elite.

It has been discussed here before, but unlike our NW brethren, FB elites are still left with very few Platinum benefits. It seems that FB is responding to the issue by taking away benefits from Ivory, Silver and Gold to make Platinum seem better by comparison, rather than demonstrating that they value the loyal, frequent flyer.

"This" being an upgrade waitlist for international flights. Note that it's possible to get waitlisted for a mileage upgrade when you ask for it at the gate -- or, at least, it seemed possible in SFO recently, when I was booked on a K fare. Upgrade didn't clear because affaires was full.

Doesn't quite match my recent experience ... where I asked for a mileage upgrade, there was space in Affaires, but there was no 'O' class availability.

Cheers,

I don't want to beg at the airport, there should simply be an upgrade list which clears as soon as O-class becomes available.

Agree that that would be MUCH better than the current approach.
