Extra XP promo to continue in 2022 with 50% bonus XP from 1-1-2022 to 30-6-2022
I saw it was already discussed in the roll-over XP thread, but think it's worth a seperate one as it's a slightly different topic and probably something people would not necessarily see in that other thread
Looking at my current bookings and bookings in 2022, it seems like AFKL has prepared their systems to boost XP by a factor of 1.5 in 2022.
I noticed this because I have a return trip booked BCN-AMS-LAX, outbound in December 2021, inbound January 2022. Originally this showed to earn 153 XP (51 x2 for outbound + 51 for the inbound).
I logged in today and it shows 179XP. With some guess work I am coming to the following: 51xp x2 (total 102xp) for the outbound + 51xp x1,5 (total 76,5xp) for the inbound which adds up to 178,5xp, rounded up to 179xp.
[edit]
Each segment is calculated and if the 50% comes to 0.5xp, it will be rounded up to 1xp. So any return from AMS-CDG would yield 16xp: Each segment would be 5xp + 50% = 7,5xp which is then rounded to 8xp.
Thanks to johan for finding this out.
I also tried doing a dummy booking AMS - LAX return on KL in business, outbound and inbound in january 2022 and both flights the website mentions you earn 54xp for each flight, 108xp total.
Still need to look at what the potential end date is of this promotion, but have no time to test a lot of dates right now
This would be a nice gesture from AFKL!
Anyone can confirm or have heard news?
[edit]
There's an announcement from Flying Blue where they confirm 2022 extension of covid-19 benefits: https://www.flyingblue.co.uk/en/news/coronavirus
It's more than the bonus XP, it's also status renewal.

Just wanted to follow up from the other topic on the following reply:
It looks like in case of a decimal outcome they're rounding the number.
It would be good to understand in more detail how your trip is put together. Are all segments in business? Are they all in 2022 or are some segments in 2021?
same. not exactly 1.5 XP tho, for example for my next cdg-ams-jfk trip I was supposed to earn 90xp, now I see 121: ~30%more. also the number of miles is higher than expected, but with no easy to understand proportion (e.g. 1,5, 2x etc).
cdg-mil, 16 xp instead of 10: ~60%more. go figure.
whatever the case, if it's not a glitch it's a welcome change.

A roundtrip CDG-IAD I took on AF last September/October was credited 1.5 x XP/miles. Not having been aware that AF (FB) had repeated the double XP/miles promo from late 2020, I was initially puzzled. I quickly figured out that was the case, however, and that I had straddled the promo. I felt lucky to have another such trip planned for December (Omicron permitting ).
I saw no sign of bonus XPs/miles for 2022 trips I've already booked (in February and April/May) in the estimates provided in the bookings. I made the latter booking only a few days ago.

I have one of my regular straightforward intra-European commutes booked either side of New Year's Day.
This year these flights have earned me (5+5) x 2 = 20 XP. For the upcoming flight KL promises me a total of 18. (5x2) + (5x1.5) = 17.5 ≈ 18. So yes, a 1.5 factor would explain that.

Alas, unlikely to help me in my quest for Utli status. It should, however, help for racking up XPs toward lifetime platinum, assuming the rules on rollovers don't change over the next three years.

Just noticed the unusually high number of xp to be earned with my bookings in 2022 and found this thread. So it's not an error! Cool that they have decided to offer this, especially given the news making flying in the coming months somewhat uncertain.
