You should rather check your facts. A "handful only" from CDG ????

indeed.. so, back at cdg this morning, direct to the ticketing office terminal F, AF agent tells me to come back in 5 hours... hinting// dude, you not going to fly..."
I check with the AF help desk, am greeting by natasha who spent 30 minutes looking into my issues, all with a smile, a model of efficiency and courtesy, till she was told by her supervisor on the phone that all US issues were being dealt with zone 7..
There i was greeted by a laugh and a ... you have a pb.... till the supervisor stepped out, and not one not 2 but 4 agents looked into the file, guess felt sorry, guess i do flirt... guess they didnt want to spend more money on hotel and food (by the way, HI roissy is a fine establishment..) bottom line i am in the lounge waiting to bord af338 to Boston in one hour. YES! a tad closer to final destination!

my back-of-an-envelope calculations show that, on the current timetable, there are more scheduled direct services from CDG to the US than there are from AMS - however, there are more SkyTeam flights from AMS than from CDG!!!!

CDG

ATL (21 per week, 14DL, 7AF)
BOS (13 per week, 6AF)
CLT (5 per week)
CVG (7 per week, 7DL)
DFW (7 per week)
DTW (14 per week, 7DL, 7AF)
IAD (18 per week, 11AF)
IAH (7 per week, 7AF)
LAX (19 per week, 14AF)
MIA (14 per week, 7AF)
MSP (7 per week, 7DL)
NYC (68 per week, 31AF, 7DL)
ORD (19 per week, 5AF)
PHL (7 per week)
PIT (3 per week, 3DL)
SEA (6 per week, 6DL)
SFO (7 per week, 7AF)
SLC (7 per week, 7DL)

Total 249 (160 DL/AF)

AMS

ATL (21 per week, 14DL, 7KL)
BOS (11 per week, 11DL)
DFW (4 per week, 4KL)
DTW (28 per week, 28DL)
IAD (13 per week, 7KL)
IAH (14 per week, 7KL)
LAX (7 per week, 7KL)
MSP (21 per week, 21DL)
NYC (35 per week, 14DL, 14KL)
OAK (1 per week)
ORD (14 per week, 7KL)
PDX (5 per week, 5DL)
PHL (6 per week)
SEA (12 per week, 12DL)
SFB (2 per week)
SFO (7 per week, 7KL)

Total 201 (165 DL/KL)

(If anyone wants to verify that/correct my mistakes, please do!)

I stand corrected - was referring to the AF/DL/KLM flights from either CDG or AMS.

My previous experience in August'12 of a 'mini' crisis that needed a family member to get from FCO to MSP asap, resulted in spending 2 days in FCO then another 2 days in CDG, before we got that person on a DL flight from AMS to MSP through DTW.

All DL/AF flights between FCO and the USA and CDG and the USA were overbooked some as high as +32 each.

DTW has so many flights per day/week because it is considered to be a major hub by DL!

What dates are you looking at. Currently there is only a daily DTW-CDG and 3 daily DTW-AMS. AF will add a daily soon, but I did not know that DL was planning a fourth daily to AMS. Assuming that's correct, then CDG would have more ST flights to USA than AMS

I'm not looking at dates - I'm looking at routes, on Google. And they haven't uploaded the new winter timetables yet.

For comparison purposes, I'll update the table above when they have.

I had never used google for that purpose.
Checking ExpertFlyer for December 2012, there are only 3 DL DTW-AMS and one AF DTW-CDG.
In the Summer 2013 schedule, DL plans to introduce one more flight to CDG AMS some time in January (although not daily), then daily for Summer 2013. And one more flight to AMS in April.
The Google results you list are for Summer 2013. So they go until 27 October 2013. They are not the current Winter 2012/2013.
Anyway, it seems that you were right for Summer 2013 (2 and 4 daily) and currently it is 1 and 3, so the difference is the same. Will be a bit different early 2013.
