Air France 777 200 vs 777 300

CDG to LAX in premium economy.. is there a difference between the 777 200 and 777 300? Is one better than the other?

Hi,

Welcome to FlyerTalk.

You can find details about AF 777-200ER and 777-300ER on the brilliant website that is aerolopa.com

Air France operates between two and four flights a day to LAX depending on the season : AF70, 66, 72 and 76 (continuing to PPT).
-
  • AF70, early flight operated until the end of October, is operated with an A350 on which you will find the Recaro PL3530 seat in Premium and more rarely in the future, the Collins Aerospace MiQ seats. Both very good.
  • AF66 and AF72, almost considered flagship flights, operate almost* exclusively with 4-class 777, on which you will find the Collins Aerospace Icon seats in W. This seat is usually disliked by frequent travellers and considered uncomfortable due to hard-shell design and sliding effect.*Aircraft change is never impossible.
  • AF76, does not operate on Mondays and Wednesdays, and only three times weekly in JAN and FEB, operates exclusively using a 777-200ER on which you will find Collins Aerospace Icon seats too.
As a great alternative, you can also look at Delta DL291, operated with 330Neo, Premium Economy equipped with Collins MiQ seats. To/From US west-coat, KL and DL are usually better options for flights in W.

I booked on points through AirFrance and am on AF72. Do you think it’s worth calling AF to see if I can get on their codeshare flight with Delta (DF 291) instead?

Just called. The service agent said he’s never seen W available on Delta through AF. Only Econ and business. It was worth a try, though. 👍🏼

You can, but for an award ticket, it will mean cancel the 1st ticket (with 50€ fee) and rebook the new one if there is award space available on the DL flight for FB members. You have to know that this availability is very scarce, and if there is availability, it can be at a higher price in miles than your original ticket. But no risk to check.

Btw it seems the change fee is now $50 for US customers, not 50 euro anymore. Woohoo
