Star alliance upgrades

I'm a United Premier member. Can I put in
for upgrades for any of the Star Alliance
partners like I can with United?

Flying Air Canada in September, Thai in
October and Luftansa in December and would
like to take a shot at upgrading

Unfortunately, not yet. Although they are moving towards reciprocal benefits (check out www.star-alliance.com), upgrades for Premier members isn't yet available.

Catman, if ou do your partner flights between sep-15 and nov-15-98 think of registering with UA for the Star-Alliance-promotion (flying 3=5'000 miles, 4=15'000 miles, 5=25'000 miles, 6=50'000 miles).

and...remember to take the star alliance quiz at http://www.starquiz.com too...you'll earn 10,000 more mileage plus miles (additional to the 5,000 - 50,000 miles that Rudi mentioned)...that is, you have to fly united and at least two of the other star alliance member carriers...and you'll get a total 15,000 miles for 3 carriers, 25,000 for 4, 35,000 for 5, and 60,000 for all 6...

even if you don't fly (or don't fly enough to qualify for the bonus mentioned)...you'll still receive a small bonus of 250 mileage plus miles just for completing the quiz...

Rudi and Tedhl... Thanks for the Star Alliance bonus miles tip... I signed up for
it and hoping to get at least 3 partners
(know already I'm flying United and Air Canada.)

The quiz was fun and for once I passed it!
Thanks again for your help! CATMAN

Catman, use the two standby upgrade certificates sent by United for Star Alliance flights (excluding United). If you can find someone who does not need their Star Alliance certs but needs United certs then you could swap.

Phil... thanks for your tip, I knew there
was a good reason to hold on to those Star
Alliance certificates. I'll give it a shot
for my flight to Toronto in October. Thanks
again! CATMAN
