YUL to FRA - Plane here, no crew...
Well... checked on AC website before leaving for airport and AC874 was showing on time departure. Arrive here to learn there is a 3 hr 10 min delay. Reason, no available crew... As a result, have to spend another 3 hours as well in FRA for later flight to MUC. I know AC network is a mess right now but weather is fine here. Any compensation likely?

If the flight is delayed because of no crew and not weather....
The flight is operating to a EU country (Germany) compensation is as follows:
Assist passengers facing long delays.
When airlines reasonably expect a long delay, they will be obliged to give passengers:
* meals and refreshments,
* hotel accommodation, when a delay obliges a passenger to stay overnight, and
* reimbursement, when a delay delays a passenger for at least five hours.
If the flight in canceled because there is no crew and not weather....
You are entitled to 600 EUROS compensation.

As far as I understand compensation only applies if departing from an EU country or if the flight is operated by an EU airline in the case of arrival into an EU country. No compensation per EU rules, unless they have changed or I have misunderstood something.

I'm also not certain that lounge access sufficiently meets the requirements of the compensation for meals should such compensation be required.

Why does everyone want compensation for every little hiccup? Delays happen - you have to deal with them. It's a part of travelling.
Read the COC's - you should not get any compensation for something like this, unless you were VDB'd or IDB'd. This doesn't sound like this was the case.

AC877, FRA-YYZ (11 Dec)
Scheduled to depart at 17:00, actual departure after 21:00. Also because of crew rest requirements. Which I'm OK with, because I'd rather not have an unrested flight crew.
Is there something up with FRA flights though?
