Fuel Surcharge?

Is there a greater fuel surcharge for Business Class
Aeroplan tickets than economy fare tickets?
Are taxes on aeroplan tickets based on retail value
of fare or are the taxes based on fuel, ? etc ?
Reason for these questions are that I cannnot comprend
anyone booking econ aeroplan tickets and paying
taxes and surcharge rather than buying tickets if
surcharges even close to being equivalent with business
class.

Why would fuel surcharge be different on ones seating?

Logically, a business class seat, taking up a larger proportion of the available space and weight of an aircraft, would pay a higher charge. The checked baggage for J class passengers is also higher than what is available for Economy.

Unfortunately, there is little logic, rhyme, or reason with AC's 'fuel surcharges'. They're just arbitrary fees that, for the most part, bear no resemblance to the cost of fuel, high, or low.

Taxes are identical for economy vs business at least in cross-border flights.

Some people just prefer to burn fewer miles! See m1977's post!

on intercontinental flights, uk air passenger duty is £40 for economy class and £80 for business class. air canada fuel surcharges are the same for both classes.

The reason for my questions, had to do with "taxes, surcharges and airline fees" of $622.10 per ticket for
Aeroplan reward with Air Canada for R/T Victoria-Paris.
It would not make sense to fly in economy using points if fees are the same.

on a reward ticket it NEVER makes sense to pay fees for Economy. But the problem is there is almost NEVER business class.... However things have got better in the last month.
