Can this be done? I may be doing to international AC flights which would be booked as seperate both ways but connect within a few hours of one another. Can I surrender one cert for the whole itinerary of travel?? I only have SSWU certs left and though the flights would be four legs (2 each way) it would be booked as two seperate itinerys on the same travel days.
Thanks for any insights

Ask them to make a note in the file.. and bring your previous flight BP. If it's under 24 hours it should be fine. You can probably convince the connecting flight GA with the previous BP show "CERT" and marked used - I sometimes ask them to mark 'CERT collected in AIRPORT' too...
Thanks for the replys-my travel is:
SYD-YVR (on one booking reference) and then YVR-LHR (on a seperate) both outbound and return flights connect within a few hours at YVR.
Its one way I really want to use one cert SYD-YVR-LHR (space pending..!)and am hoping if space is open I can hand it over at check in here in SYD for the entire duration as it all happens on the same day.
Also re LHR does anyone know if 2 hours is enough to transfer to Term 1 BD flts and how late in the day does the AC arrivals lounge stays open till??
Thanks again

2 hours is lots of time--there are other threads on this. I prefer to exit through customs and not do transfer airside. Others think differently. I think the lineups are longer airside but that is just my experience--and I have a UK passport so getting through customs is a breeze. Fast track can be slower than UK lines.
Arrivals lounge used to be open until about 12:30-1 PM but others may have more recent experience.

What do you mean by "return" ? You're not returning to SYD, right? Did you mean the YVR-LHR as your "return" ?Originally Posted by SYD/YYZ

I'm not sure how this works if it is on two separate tickets. I would imagine you at least need to get the PNRs linked. It may not be do-able.

Sorry for not being clear. Yes I am am returning to SYD.My flights are basically 2 seperate return booking (which happen to connect) 1 x SYD-YVR and another YVR-LHR. Both flights are all on the same day but under seperate booking ref #s. When I went to ac.com it priced SYD-LHR and over $10 K! So seperate booking came in much less. SYD-YVR are both in Q and YVR-LHR is 1 x Q and 1 x H. I have 2 SSWU left for 2007 and mulitple SWU, so its one way (my outbound) I want to use one cert space pending from SYD-LHR.
I have called ac.com and they have linked the bookings but they will still appear as seperate booking reference #s.I am basicllay flying direct to LHR from SYD with a stop in the UK and straight back to OZ (each way connecting via YVR ).
Thanks again

Check out this thread.
Upgrading Separate Itineraries
I recall doing this a long time ago but can't remember details. I usually do it all at the gate by getting them to note that U/G was lifted or to get them to not lift upgrade and get it on the next leg.

I thought that you could not use 1 cert unless all flights were part of the SAME FARE.
I don't think there is any rule on this so it is open to interpretation. Not recommended for the faint of heart but SSWUs and SWUs do say from origin to destination . . .
The last time I flew a multi-leg itin, with a stopover, at the check-in desk, they stamped both BP's with a "Certificate Collected at Origin", or something like that - it was the first time I'd seen that, and it allayed my fears that some green GA would kick up a fuss at my connection gate.
Thank you very much for your replys. As mentioned its just one way I need to try to have one cert get me there(I do not want to use my 2008 SSWU certs yet!).
The cert is strange in text as it states Origin to Destination and as I will have the bookings linked and will have my bags tagged to LHR I hope it all works.
I will report how it all goes in case anyone wants the same info for future travel.
All the best

Yes, when you consider just the phrase 'origin to destination', that does trump any other consideration such as being based on being part of a fare. So the bags get tagged all the way through implying that the trip must have no stops and no bags pulled off on a 23 hour 59 minute overnight connection.Originally Posted by SYD/YYZ

But still, if there were NO checked bags, and all connections were legal, overnights and all, the single cert would be good, I think. Opinions or discussion?
