The importance of recognizing loyalty

"I stay in a lot of hotels, but I have a sweet spot for Fairmont. They're often historic and interesting properties and they're very good at recognizing loyal customers."

Can't wait for Altaflyer to read that one. The comment couldn't be any more ironic given Fairmont's own Platinum elite changes, which you assume he would be well aware of.

Is he really talking about hotels or is it secret code for flying the old 767's with the duct tape?

I suppose AC recognizes loyal customers --look at all the messages we get-- it just doesn't do anything to keep them loyal.

RD must use Fairmont as a reference for the AP changes...

Actually RP is modeling loyalty after Fairmont.

(What Super Larry said!)

Now that is irony.Wow

As for Fairmont, the concierges have done a very nice job of remembering Mrs.acysb87.She absolutely insists we stay at RY on each visit to Toronto.

Yes, I did have a good chuckle to that comment when I read it the other morning...and particularly in light of this being Fairmont! Of course SEs have been oblivious to the decline in AE/AC's respect of true loyalty versus immediate loyalty -- i.e. putting the cash up front.

Loyalty from Fairmont, AC, and others

I have to say in the past I was all about the best deal for a hotel, no matter the hotel. However after having spent many nights in countless hotels, motels, hostels, b&b... I do prefer to go with what I have enjoyed most in the majority of occasions.

That would be the hotels that recognize my loyalty and give that that little extra when I check in because I am a member of their club (despite status) and do their best to make everything better for the stay.

Some go out of their way, some do the bare minimum, and some you have to remind about that free bottle of bubbly or the free movie...

Rupert is a good guy---- so give it a rest. He really cares. Anyone who has met him will attest to this truth.

But his job is to make AE into a profitable business. This, he has done brilliantly.

My only bone with him is the loss of AE as a loyalty program. I believe both objectives can co exist, but likely the brass at AC do not agree or care.

CCs mean more than flying on AC IMHO.
