upgrade function not working for OLCI

On AC858 Tuesday night.

It is not Tuesday, 12:09AM. I went to do OLCI.

No upgrade button.

Called the SE desk: you are on the waitlist. I explained that it gets reset day of flight. Nothing they can do.

I don't want to call India, as I will no doubt be told to eat cookies and that there is no such thing as upgrades on this route, or some such.

The flight is down to J5...

Ideas, anyone? Why would this not be working? Anyone else had it? I am on an "A" fare, which to the UK is upgradeable with SSWU.

Call the SE desk again. Maybe the next person will be more knowledgeable?

And call India too. If only to make them aware of how clueless they are. And who knows, you might be lucky and hit someone who dealt with the same issue?

Wow...that's nice. They're doing what they were trained to do. Do you think the hundreds of thousands of Indians like being crapped on all night by rude North Americans just for doing their job? They don't want to make you're life difficult...

Are you that nasty with everyone?

Back to the topic: I've hardly ever had the upgrade button when I check in for my flights. I notice it more when there is an AC Jazz flight as the first segment where no J is offered.

How about phoning the Concierge office in YYZ and see if they can do something to manually put you on the airport u/g list?

Reread my post: *if they are clueless.* Nothing personal there. Nothing to do with their race or location.

If the issue is training or rather lack thereoff, again not my problem. It's all an internal AC problem.

Simon - is the booking in question a flight pass booking? If so, I always upgrade from the flight pass page (never the check-in page). I find the check-in upgrade function to be unreliable. Also, once in a while something goes wonky with the record and the upgrade button doesn't show or the system returns an error when I try to upgrade.... in those cases, I simply cancel my first booking and rebook the same itinerary - works every time. Of course, I wouldn't recommend this strategy if the flight is already oversold...

Why are you assuming the first agent wasn't knowledgeable? Simon needs to be added to the airport waitlist; reservations don't have access to the airport system.

Just to confirm:

The I availability was greater than "0" - when you tried to upgrade on-line?

If so, does the on-line check in feature consistently give the upgrade feature? If so, is the upgrade feature available at the same times that the online checkin feature is available?

If the telephone reservations agent can not upgrade at 12:09 AM, does that mean that I = 0, and that is why the online checkin feature did not work?

PS-I did read the last post - but I am asking these questions from a generic perspective.

If I=0, it will put you on the "priority" waitlist.

I just did this for a flight FRA-YYZ tomorrow, and it worked just fine.

There is obviously a bug somewhere in the process, and I am wondering if it is because the OLCI does not recognize an "A" fare from an international destination as upgradeable... to LHR it is.
