I'm on an Aeroplan reward ticketed in D and confirmed in W. Currently showing J3 C0, what do you think my chances of "upgrading" are? Any tips?
This'll (possibly) be my first time in AC international J.. looking forward to it.

Not quite following...D class is the Aeroplan Executive Class. W, as per my understanding, is the Economy class. ...You are ticketed in D? Then..you don't need to upgrade, as you are already there. Confirmed in W? Then not possible to upgrade, as no upgrading from Aeroplan fares.

Previously you would have been at the top of the standby upgrade list, however now it appears the list is sorted by status.

I will hazard a guess and say "don't get your hopes up".
Considering it's J3 and AC doesn't oversell the premium cabin, there are only 3 seats left in total. Considering you're basic, all status member upgrades will be ahead of you. (This is how it's understood the standby list now works, it's never really been confirmed)

I think that for the AP award ticketed in D, but confirmed in W, AC should make the upgrade priority in this situation publically available. For agents to be telling pax they will be high on the list, only for pax to be disapointed is a real let down.

If you are flying on a 763, its possible that an additional five seats will open up closer to departure, as the flight may move from a 25J to 30J aircraft type. I'm not sure, but I don't think that AC sells more than 25J seats on the 763 to avoid involuntarily downgrading anyone.
