For all of you who complain about rattiness etc. of AC's current 763 fleet -- go try flying UA Envoy class. I was on a 767 EWR-DUB last week, and felt like I was on Air Gambia. Dirty, rundown, old, uncomfortable, bad food, you name it. Blech.
Are you referring to UA or US? I think US is the one with the really bad business class. I flew VCE to PHL on US and it was almost funny how bad it was.
UA Business Class is actually pretty nice in my experience.
I have to agree with your comments by the way. No airline would install J seats simply so passengers can upgrade- that would be financial stupidity. Anyway, I am not sure what the problem is- if the fare YYZ to HKG is really 10 400 as one poster wrote, making a round trip ticket over 20 000 dollars, there will be plenty of seats to upgrade as all the travellers will be flying in CX First Class which is cheaper

Doh.

Yes, US Envoy class on PHL-DUB, not UA on EWR-DUB

Call me stupid but I can't remember which of the above is the extremely long range Worldliner version. I think it's the 200LR but please correct me if I am wrong.

200LR is the ultra-long range version (B equiv to the A345)
300ER is the high capacity extended range 777 (B equiv to the A346)

How quickly you forget to compare the AC 767 or 340 duct tape specials with UA 777 or 744's

It seemed to me that UA hadn't touched their 744 in 3 years! It was a filthy mess! The only thing that was missing was the graffiti in the F toilets .....
