'Discontinued' Air Canada branded luggage on sale at the Bay

65% off all AC branded luggage.

Meanwhile, new WestJet branded luggages is also on sale for 50% off.

Having said that, has any one ever seen department store luggage on sale with anything less than 50% off?

I was told by the salesperson, that the quality is not that great. I ended up buying Delsey.

And the Delsey was 70% off clearance.

I only own 1 piece of Air Canada luggage and it's not bad, just not great. However, our family seems to wear out at least 1 suitcase each time we fly no matter what the quality is.

Cheers

Won't fit in the newly configured 767-300 or 767-200 cabins?

Trust me, you don't want to know. All I can say is, that we pack far more than the bags are designed to hold

Cheers

There are two tiers of quality for the AC branded luggage, the worst is the kind on sale at Bentley, Sears, etc... nasty quality, but cheap.

The version at the Bay is much better quality all over, wheels, handle, zippers, cloth, etc.

Inflatable Luggage!

AC announces new luggage
Montreal (CP) - January 11, 2006
"Air Canada is discontinuing its current line of traditional luggage, which really had nothing to do with Air Canada except for the dumb maple leaf on it. Now, in order to save space and weight on its flights, and have more room for sandwiches on stale, cold bread, Air Canada announces its new line of inflatable luggage. Passengers will bring the contents of what would have been their carry-on luggage in shopping bags (50 cents each at the check in counter). Once on board, the FAs will offer AC's new line of transparent inflatable luggage. A 20" case will cost only $5 (CDN or US!) and pumps will be provided. At the end of the flight, the luggage will be deflated and collected by the FAs. In annoucning the innovation, the acting president of Air Canada, Donald Trump, noted that "profit centres are where we find them - we learned from the pillow experience that Canadians are excellent with inflatable products."

Huh? "The Bay" is a department store in Canada, originally chartered by Charles II in England as the "Hudson's Bay Company" (aka "Governor and Company of Adventurers of England trading into Hudsons Bay") in May, 1670. I can understand a Yank not knowing, but a Brit?! C'mon...

Anyway, I suspect you'll probably have to walk into the store to get one of these. (Do they even have catalogue sales anymore?)
