AC & CPH
Hi guys,
I was just wondering why AC hasn't restarted flights to CPH from YYZ. I'm assuming the flight was cancelled due to AC's bad finances after 9/11.
Also slightly OT but I have to buy a ticket to CPH. My options are routing through ORD on UA and SK or via LHR on BA. Which one would you choose?
Thanks!!

Unfortunately there is not much traffic between Canada and Scandinavia, so neither AC nor SK could make the route pay. I doubt we'll see it come back unless FRA and MUC get really clogged up and AC is looking for a fourth STAR hub in Europe [CDG may work better once STAR moves all its carriers into the refurbished T1].
As for your alternatives, I guess it depends upon your overall travel and in which airline program you want to build mileage, and attempt to achieve elite status. Travelling via SK in the US requires hassles in that country. You could go via LHR or FRA on AC, then onto SK/BD or SK/LH. AC has fares in the $450 range+taxes/fees to LHR, and you can get to CPH on a separate STAR ticket from there for less than $200 if the dates are right.
More dates and details will help answer your second question.

In that case, buy a ticket to LHR (there is a 12 month max stay) and then get a second ticket on SK to CPH. Just make sure that you leave enough time (say two or three hours) between the two flights to make sure that you have some cushion time. This is probably the cheapest option as well.
You studying at the CPH Business School or the Uni? Both are fabulous campuses (and some days, wish I did my international exchange there!!!)

They typically have consolidator fares on AC that have a 12-month validity (compared to the 2-3 mths max stay that applies to most lower published fares), and relatively low change fees in case you decide to extend your stay (~50 CAD, compared to the standard $200-$300 CAD that published fares would have). Downsides: No mileage accumulation on AC, a requirement that an ISIC/IYTC card is purchased, a paper ticket.
Travelcuts quoted the best fare through UA and SK thru ORD. AS a student money talks so I'll likely have to do that.
Thanks for everyone's help though! Hopefully AC comes back to CPH!
