Are We Having FUN????
Have you noticed how those Fun fare categories have been creeping up over the past few weeks? The only fare bleow that is, of course, Tango which qualifies for pretty much zip as far as qualifying for E and SE is concerned.
Couple the above with the fact that AC is awarding significant supplementary points for Fun and higher fares till early December and you begin to see the strategy for pricing upwards Fun fares.
I guess the whole program will get worse as we approach 2005.

I'll reserve judgement on what to do until the 2005 AP program comes out, but one thing I learned the hard way last year is that I'll wait until the UG rules and eligible fares are published before I choose my package... assuming of course we will have a choice to make.

2 Upgrade certs every 35,000 miles
Upgrades for SE 5 days before flight; E's 3 days before. P's, pond scum.
SSWU's disappear.
SWU only on B, Y, M.
NA AE goes to 35,000 points, J at 60,000
Intl-Europe goes to 95,000 Y, 150,000 J
E-mail for SE disappears.
Concierge eliminated
Instant 762 for KH
50,000 miles for E requal
125,000 for SE requal
$75 charge for upgrade cert use; $150 for flight change
I seemed to have won a bottle of scotch here a few years ago (never collected) winning on a bet on cutbacks. Just wait for the shoe to drop. I expect things to suck majorly this year. After all, RM seems to be swaggering around a bit like GB, don't you think?
Loyalty. Ain't it great!

AC has tweaked the new fare structure in recent weeks.
The old RIG fun classes have been transferred into tango. This makes Tango the LCC price match class in the domestic market. Tango will be the only class to compare with SG, WS, and CJ. The benefits have also been reduced to LCC levels; nuttin honey.
In my opinion, I think this is a mistake. The old style promoted AC benefits over flying WS as the price at each carrier increased. It highlighted that WS was only a good deal at the discounted webfare category. However under the new RENT PIG era, I am more inclined to take WS if the schedule is same or better and would prefer WS 732 to the Jazz Trash 8.
