Yup, flying SK; I will definitely visit the CPH lounge. SK was cheaper than flying Virgin Express / SN.

There's a very good collection of Gaugans and the art museum, which I believe also bears the Carlsberg name. If you are looking to boost the number of countries travelled, you can take the train [from the airport] across to Malmo in Sweden, see a bit of that city, then head back to Copenhagen.

The rest of the suggestions will keep you busy for the time you're there. Do catch the elephant gate at the Carlsberg brewery, while I found Tuborg more homey. The parks are pleasant for sunbathing if the weather cooperates.

If you want to have a full on "Castle" day, I would recommend taking the train up to Helsingor to see Hamlet's castle and then take the train over to Hillerod to visit Frederiksborg Castle which is truly spectacular and contains the wonderful Danish Museum of Natural History - essentially, the history of Denmark told in art. The trains from Helsingor to Hillerod are not as frequent but you can still time it well. Then it's just a commuter train from Hillerod back down to Copenhagen.

I agree that the Resistance Museum is well worth a visit. Copenhagen's a wonderful city for strolling. Enjoy!

ac777, you'll have a fabulous time in CPH. I really loved the land of the blondes and the beautiful. CPH is a very, very clean city and is a lovely place to walk around. I didn't get to visit as many museums as I would have liked to (or castles for that matter), but I definitely enjoyed everything that I saw. The long shopping street is also fun.

I also went to Odense and the beach northeast of Odense (starts with a K) on Fyn Island. It was a nice place -- maybe someone can answer this one: Why are there TWO red men on the traffic lights? (Oh, and the trains are pretty expensive in DK.)

And I agree, the food is excellent. I ate lunch at cafes off the main beaten path and it was very good.

On the traffic lights: I�m not sure this is the right explanation, but occasionally you will see TWO red men at wide crossings where there is a divider in the middle of the road where a pedestrian can wait, while cars may be given a green arrow for right turns. So one half of the pedestrian crossing might have a green man while at the same time the other half might be red . So two red men might be seen as some sort of an extra warning.

CPH is a great city just to walk around in and explore. See if you can find a walking tour in a guidebook and just head out and enjoy the city and the people.

i lived in copenhagen for a year and this thread brought back so many warm fuzzy memories.

got 24 hours (or even 48) walk - stop in a cafe, have a drink, walk- get lost, stop for dinner, walk....

it`s a great city, even if you walk far in one direction, the bus system is great and you can get back to where you were with ease

the danish design museum is cool and louisianna (sp) the modern art museum is great,; if you are into clubbing, nasa is very spiff, and the underground (literally) club at the tivoli gardens (it has changed its name and i dont know the new one) was and still has the neatest DJs
