Goodwill Gesture 20% Code

Hi all,

I've got a 20% goodwill gesture code that AC gave me after a series of unfortunate events - and was wondering, are these only usable for cash revenue tickets?

In the past they normally give me $ 100/200/400 CAD to be used toward a revenue ticket, but can this code be used to say, discount a J aeroplan redemption?

I'm a little scared of 'fiddling' with the code on the webpage in case it accidentally consumes the code.

Thanks!

It can only be used towards a revenue booking, unfortunately won't work to discount an Aeroplan redemption.

Don't worry about inputting the code when searching for flights. The code is only redeemed once you actually complete a booking.

Is the Goodwill% code only used once? What happen if cancelling the ticket?
Thanks!

I never knew that. Cancelling a ticket that used a promo code doesn't reactivate the code? Will they issue a new one if you ask?

I'm holding a ticket booked with a 25% code that might need to be cancelled. Good to know that it should just be changed instead of cancelled if I can't get the code back.

Thats actually not correct. You can write to customer care with the PNR of the cancelled booking explaining the situation and requesting the issuing of a new code. I had this occur multiple times over the last number of years and customer care kindly issued a new code. No guarantee (it is customer care) but in my experience theyve been good about it.

They've denied me the reissue so that's why I'm hesitant

Agreed, this is certainly worth a try. For what it's worth, I've had 75% success (3 out of 4) in getting a reissued code in the past 10 months. YMMV.

Is there any way to use these codes on travel agency bookings?

I had one once but it was before I would even consider spending more than the cheapest economy fare so it was basically worthless to me and it long ago expired.

Your TA can use it via the agent's side of ac.com
but then they have to deal with ac.com and not the GDS - personally i loath doing that
